Disk tiers are a very interesting concept. I don't know that there will be much use for them in database servers, but I could see use in an application server. The iSCSI concept on the other hand seem like it might have definite use in leveraging multiple database servers against a single iSCSI provider. I would like to look into this more especially from the dynamic disk expansion point of view.
