This course is broken and does not work at all. Firstly, I couldn't run the commands because it seems like some dependencies weren't installed properly? Anyway.. I first get this. ubuntu@ip-172-31-56-233:~/code/spl45$ pip install boto Downloading/unpacking boto Downloading boto-2.39.0-py2.py3-none-any.whl (1.3MB): 1.3MB downloaded Installing collected packages: boto Cleaning up... Installed OK. then I tried the eb start command and it says: run eb start root@ip-172-31-56-233:/home/ubuntu/code/spl45# eb start usage: eb (sub-commands ...) [options ...] {arguments ...} eb: error: unrecognized arguments: start Tried 'eb create'. spl45-dev is in an invalid state for this operation. Must be Ready. So I went to the elastic beanstalk web interface and redeployed from there and in the log output I see: 2016-03-28 14:25:09 UTC+1000 INFO Command execution completed on all instances. Summary: [Successful: 0, Failed: 1]. 2016-03-28 14:25:09 UTC+1000 ERROR [Instance: i-86a99f05] Command failed on instance. Return code: 1 Output: (TRUNCATED)...) File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/subprocess.py", line 540, in check_call raise CalledProcessError(retcode, cmd) CalledProcessError: Command '/opt/python/run/venv/bin/pip install -r /opt/python/ondeck/app/requirements.txt' returned non-zero exit status 1. Hook /opt/elasticbeanstalk/hooks/appdeploy/pre/03deploy.py failed. For more detail, check /var/log/eb-activity.log using console or EB CLI. And there is no file under /var/log/ for eb-activity.log. This course was frustratingly broken. Please advise.
