The Cloudfront versioning was mixed. Deleting the html file in S3 caused both to show the xml error. When I changed the second html file to the same name as the deleted html file then Cloudfront eventually started displaying the update. After I did the invalidation, cloudfront still showed the update. Looks like some sort of latency issue. Otherwise good lab. I will do it again at some point to see if it works better.
